All State Jazz & Vocal Ensembles

The best college, high school and middle school jazz bands and choral groups in Pennsylvania will perform as part of the state-wide Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Conference. The concert will be held at the Warner Theater in Erie at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $15.

Erie's the Choice

Erie is delighted to be chosen as the conference site for this annual event, which will highlight Erie's bayfront facilities.  The PMEA Conference will be held at the Bayfront Convention Center and Bayfront Sheraton Hotel from Weds., April 17 through Sun., April 21.

A fringe benefit for Erie music fans is the opportunity to hear some of the best student and professional musicians in the state, in the teriffic setting of the Warner Theater, and at a reasonable cost.  All concerts will be held at the Warner.

Programs and Leadership, with a number of stops along the way.

Friday's concerts will range from the Messiah College Jazz Ensemble to the Pennfield Middle School Jazz Band.

In addition to the jazz-oriented performances on Friday, there will be concerts by the Boston Brass and a number of student groups on Thursday, and on Saturday, student win ensembles and vocal choruses at 11:30 a.m. and student bands and orchestras beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Vocal jazz director is Pete Eldrich, a co-founding member of the New York Voices.  Jazz band director is Richard Victor, recently retired director at State College High School.  The local host of the Conference is Bob Reid, band director at Seneca High School.
