If you're interested in the southern tier of music making in the Erie area, come listen and/or sit in at the Cootie Harris Jazz Jam on Sun., Feb. 23.  Cootie will be there along with Jam organizer Dan Hallett III, and a fertile group of area musicians and guests.

Core Rhythm.

A terrific core rhythm section will provide support and inspiration to horn players and others: Dan Hallett III - piano, Sean Demico - electric bass, and Erie drummer Tim Driscoll.  If you haven't heard these guys, you're in for a treat.

Musicians onstage and attendeesFront Line.

The front line, middle line and back lines include whoever brings their instrument and their desire to play. Knowledge of some jazz standards and at least modest proficiency in improvising are expected. Then you're on your own!

History.

The Meadville Jazz Jams were initiated by drummer/drum teacher Cootie Harris, who was seeking opportunities for his students to play with more experienced area musicians.
The Jams have become a Meadville institution, drawing musicians from surrounding counties and cities eager for a chance to renew contacts and friendships and enjoy the moment.  The Meadville Market House helps sponsor the event. Cootie is now in his 90's, but continues to host the event.

For more information contact Dan Hallett, 814/336-1580.
