FREE -- LEWISTON, N.Y.JAZZ FEST
Fri., Aug 22 & Sat., Aug. 23
Another of the region's FREE Jazz Festivals, the Lewiston Jazz Fest offers two days of jazz performances by regional and national artists. Headlined by four-time Grammy nominee Karrin Allyson, the festival features multiple outdoor and indoor venues, up to 10 locations at a time, so there's lots to choose from each afternoon and evening until 10:30 p.m.
Lewiston is located 20 minutes north of Buffalo, off I-190, just above Niagara Falls. Most of the performance venues are outdoor stages. Performances will go on rain or shine. Police will be there to direct you to available parking.
In addition to Allyson, standout performances include: The Eastman Faculty/Student Nonet performing Miles Davis' "Birth of the Cool"& beyond, trumpeter Chris Tedesco, saxophonist John Hasselbach, the Lynn Ligumari Quintet, vocalist Barbara Jean (familiar to Erie audiences), and many, many others -- over 150 musicians in all.
While all events are free, you can purchase VIP seating at $20 for headline events.
