BEAUTIFUL FUSION
“Fusing contemporary American jazz with the ancient rhythms of his native Peru, Gabriel Alegria spins a unique form of world jazz. By incorporating and exploring the common African roots in both musical styles, the Sextet brings a uniquely Afro-Peruvian jazz sound.” So says the liner note from the Erie Art Museum announcing this concert in the newly renovated Art Museum performance hall, between state and French on 5th Street in downtown Erie. A suggested donation of $15 is encouraged.
Local fans who have heard this ensemble give an unqualified thumbs up. “The most exciting small group I’ve heard in years.” “The hottest thing on the road.” Visit the band’s website for a quick look and listen: http://gabrielalegria.com.
