JAZZ FM 88.5, Erie’s 24X7 jazz radio station, celebrates its second birthday on Friday, November 11 at the Docksider from 6 p.m. until 1:30 a.m.  The event is co-sponsored by JazzErie.

The station, Mercyhurst and Program Manager Mike Leal’s gift to Erie’s jazz listeners, and all lovers of good music, will celebrate the station and Erie’s musicians with three front-line local bands, including two recent award winners!

6 – 9:30 p.m., come hear “JD Jazz,” with Joe Dorris, Joe Dorris.  Local musicians are invited to sit in.  Come listen…come play!

Then comes “Is What It Is,” the dynamic trio of Steve Trohoske, Ian Smith and Kenny Smith.  The trio was the winner of the 2011 Rock Erie Music Award for Jazz.

9:30 p.m. – 1:30 a.m. brings “Ron Yarosz and the Vehicle,” blues with Ron Yarosz, Eric Brewer, Ron Sutton and Ralph Pettinger.  Winners of both the 2011 Rock Erie Music Award for Blues, and Album of the Year.
