LOOKING AHEAD
JazzErie's 2015 Season

Sonny FortuneLOOKING AHEAD

JazzErie's 2014-15 season has already brought a wealth of goodies.

  • A concert by one of the forward-thinking grand old men of jazz, Sonny Fortune, bringing his quartet to Erie at the Erie Art Museum.

For much of the rest of the season, the Series has focused on our many excellent regional artists.

  •  A pair of concerts linking jazz musicians with artistic kin in dance and poetry.

Allen Zurcher   The first of these, "Jazz & Dance," in October, paired the Allen Zurcher Quartet with the SoMar Dance Workshop at Mercyhurst University in an extraordinary performance -- dancers and musicians in a mix of planned and improvised creations.    The concert was videotaped and we hope to be able to release copies at a later date.Explcastoring the Border

The second was a pairing of jazz musicians with regional poets, called "Exploring the Border (Words & Music)," at the Erie Art Museum earlier this month.  Creations were mingled, sometimes alone, sometimes with each other, in words and in song.  The performance was audiotaped for future release.

  • And in January, an event expressing JazzErie's appreciation to its members:  "Music at the Mansion" at the Erie Woman's Club featured music by the Charles Ventrello Trio and free food and beverages for members.  A success!
