Notes From the Prez

President's Corner

Well, after 9 presidents who averaged 2 years in office, we're between presidents. So we look forward to see who writes the next message to you from the hot seat.

In the meantime, here's our last missive (slightly edited) from the man everyone loves, bassist, retired social worker, and all-around great guy, Dick Thompson.

Dick's Last Message

Dear Web visitor:

Greetings! We hope you will find useful information on our site. If you have questions or information you’d like us to be aware of, please let us know.

JazzErie is an organization of volunteers (no paid staff,) who share a passion for the music. We’re fortunate to have an enthusiastic Board of Directors who oversee JazzErie’s activities and fundraising efforts, and a hardworking corps of volunteers serving on key committees (see lists below.) We rely on our solid membership base for financial support, participation in JazzErie events, and ideas. If you’re not yet a member, please consider joining. Click on the Membership tab for an application. Membership fees are modest, and we think rewards are great.

We’ll try to keep you informed on this site about JazzErie-sponsored performances, educational activities, and other jazz happenings in the area. You can help us by letting us know about events we may be missing.

We publish a newsletter every three months which goes out to all members, with information about area events plus in-depth articles about local musicians, clubs, workshops, etc. And now we'll be sending monthly eNewsletters to members and guests alike.

If you like to hang out and listen to records, we have a monthly JazzErie Discussion Group led by master reedman, artist and educator Charles Ventrello (third Thursday of each month, 7:30 PM, Erie Art Museum Annex, 20 E. 5th St.).

We hope you’ll join and consider helping us out.

Dick Thompson
